Our Purpose

When going through a divorce, most people only consider hiring an attorney to get everything sorted. Although having an attorney to guide you and represent you is critical, there are many financial aspects of divorce an attorney may not be the best resource for.

Asset division in a divorce, once settled, is often final. Meaning there may not be a second chance to do it over. Therefore, understanding the financial impact of divorce and making your decisions based on what is best for you is critical the first time.

Our goal with divorce financial planning is to analyze all the assets of the marriage and provide clarity on the actual values of these assets in addition to determining whether certain assets make sense for you post-divorce.

A 50/50 split is seldom ideal. Therefore, negotiating and creating your settlement agreement should be personalized and not based on a traditional mold.

We also strongly believe in a team approach to divorce. Divorce Logic, along with your Attorney, CPA/Accountant, Realtor, Coach, and Mediator, can work together to ensure all aspects of your divorce are covered the first time.

We feel it’s important to work along side your divorce professionals to ensure that financial details are not missed when you’re in the process of negotiating. That’s how our divorce financial advisors help you avoid making  costly mistakes.

We don’t know what we don’t know. Reach out to Divorce Logic for a free consultation, and see how our certified divorce financial analysts can help you whether you are just considering divorce or if you’re already in the process. We look forward to partnering with you.

Our Approach to Planning
For a Divorce

Throughout the Process

Building a team dedicated to helping you achieve your goals in divorce is essential. The benefits of a team allow each professional to focus on their expertise. Communication among your divorce professionals is critical to getting the work done efficiently. As your divorce financial professionals and with your permission, Divorce Logic will work with the rest of your team to ensure everyone is on the same page throughout the process.

1. Data Gathering and Organization

  • Gather financial and expense information
  • Organize the data
  • Create financial affidavits

This step can be incredibly frustrating for clients. Knowing how to obtain all the information and where to obtain the required information can be challenging. At Divorce Logic, our process will lessen the stress of collecting the data.

2. Analysis of the Data

  • Analysis of the total marital estate
  • Determine needs after the divorce
  • Review of short-term and long-term effects of dividing property
  • Review the tax consequences of different settlement options
  • Analyze different settlement options

All assets are not created equal. Depending on the type of asset being considered, there could be different tax consequences or liquidity. Despite the value(s), understanding which asset(s) make sense for your future is pivotal when preparing a settlement and working with a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA) is the way to achieve that.

3. Planning for Life After Divorce

  • Develop a budget through a cash flow analysis based on settlement results and proposed support (paid or received)
  • Planning for taxes after divorce
  • Identify and plan for future lifestyle and goals
  • Written execution and recommendation plan

The big picture provides insight into how your goals and the ability to achieve your goals will come together.

4. Follow Through

  • Create a plan to monitor progress post-divorce
  • Post-divorce estate planning:  beneficiaries, wills, power of attorney, etc.
  • Assistance in completing paperwork and applications
  • Written execution and recommendation plan
  • Ongoing support

After your divorce is final and the changes begin, Our CDFAs are with you to ensure the plan we worked with you to create goes smoothly.
